Hoodie Allen x KiD Wasting Time. The Interview.

Hoodie Allen one of the newest, freshest hip-hop groups out there. Personally, some of my favorite stuff. With great beats coming from Obey City (producer) and outstanding verses and hooks from Steve Witz, this great collab makes some really amazing music. Don't believe me, well check em out yourself. SupaDupaLT: Age. School. Names.
Hoodie Allen: "We are Steve Witz (MC) and Obey City (Producer). 21 and 22 years old. Steve is finishing his last year at UPenn and Obey is a graduate of Tufts University."


SupaDupaLT: "How did you get into music? Certain artist? Album?"
Hoodie Allen: "We have both been experimenting with music since an early age. I (Steve) have been writing since I was a little kid and Obey always played a lot of instruments. Eventually, we were introduced to one another through a mutual friend--it wasn't until a few years after that, that Hoodie Allen emerged."


SupaDupaLT: "Who inspires or rather what inspires your lyrics and music?"
Hoodie Allen: "We are inspired by long island girls, 1990's family sitcoms and all things fresh. Musically, our influences and inspirations are so diverse ranging from Hall and Oates to Machinedrum to Notorious B.I.G. We are inspired by passionate people who are true to themselves and we try to take that same approach to our own music."


SupaDupaLT: "Gotta ask it. Hoodie Allen? How did that name come about?"
Hoodie Allen: "The name Hoodie Allen is a play off of Woody Allen. Woody Allen is to us the way America views the quintesential NY Jew as so we thought it would be appropriate for us to adopt that image and put our little catchy spin on it."


SupaDupaLT: "What music are you currently playing on the iPod or in the vehicle?"
Hoodie Allen: "Right Now I (Steve) have been bumping Theophilus London, Yelawolf and Chip Tha Ripper pretty consistently. Most of my new mixtape listening occurs at the gym and they happen to be the latest ones to stick. Haha"


SupaDupaLT: "What is the biggest of your career thus far? I know much more is coming for you guys but what is right now?"
Hoodie Allen: "The biggest highlight of our career so far was opening for Clipse in Philly. Mike Posner and Big Sean were also playing and we got to meet all the artists--They were all really down to earth and cool people and it was just an overall amazing experience for us to interact with people that we've been enjoying for so many years."


SupaDupaLT: "What is your favorite song of all time? And right now?"
Hoodie Allen: (Steve) "Very tough question, perhaps B.I.G - machine gun funk or Pharcyde - Passin Me By. Right now, it would be something off of XV's Everybody's Nobody mixtape because I can play that all the way through non-stop."


SupaDupaLT: "What is your favorite artist/group of all time?"
Hoodie Allen: (Steve) Favorite artist/group of all time for me is definitely Outkast. They are a huge inspiration for me and their group dynamic is uncomparable."


SupaDupaLT: "What are your upcoming projects? Any dates?"
Hoodie Allen: "In terms of future projects we are hard at work to follow up October's Making Waves. Look forward to two separate releases sometime this summer! Fireeee on the way."
