In one week (fuck a leak), J. Cole's debut will arrive, and for fans across the world, it will be the culmination of years of anticipation. As well, though we're taking it with a grain of salt, it seems once again that Act II might be on the way. Finally, fresh off the most talked about project of the year, Hov is back in the lab. The Roc is in full gear. Playing as the undercard to all these developments, there comes a huge question surrounding the label: is GhostWridah signing with Roc Nation?
In today's modern world of instant news, it's rather easy to track the emergence of this rumor, and though you could probably just take my word for it, I think the screen captures/pictures are WAY more fun. It's got a homely, scrapbook feel to it, doesn't it?
What first piqued my interest was a post by Meka over at 2dope, with a casual mention that the Miami MC might be going major (below, from Aug. 17th).

And then, all over Twitter, the clues poured in, in real-time. GhostWridah, upon touching down in NYC, tantalized his rabid fan base with this tweet (below, from Aug. 18):

with the following image:

Next, there was this particularly teasing Tweet (also from Aug. 18th):

and the companion photo:
There were more updates that day, including a photo with his new representation, Theo Sedlmayr (who Ghost reports is an attorney for the likes of 50, Em, Timbaland and more). The next day, he posted the very notable picture of himself and Ta Ta (a major figure if you study your Hov lore) who's an A&R at Roc Nation.
As well, he tweeted pictures from the Watch The Throne album release party, was scheduled to do a show with J. Cole, and he just went absolutely HAM over the No Church in the Wild instrumental. The evidence is starting to pile up, but still, there has been no official announcement from either side. Perhaps they're waiting for Ghost's hotly anticipated No Apologies LP to drop? Maybe nothing is going to happen at all? Either way, it's maddening, and it's building buzz, which means it's probably all part of the plan.
Plus, if you weren't down with Ghost before, do yourself a favor and get up on the buzzing rapper now. Cop his latest album, “American Alien” (that had Twitter going crazy) here. It's full of honest, meaningful bars (y'know, not just Money, Cash, Hoes), crazy lyricism that's not typically associated with the south, good ol' fashioned shit talk, and absolute BANGERS (two of which feature Paul Wall and a fire spitting Freeway, respectively). Also check out a video from the project below.
All signs point to a massive end of 2011 for this man, and I don't know why more blogs aren't talking about this situation. Maybe there's some sort of huge payout from Jay-Z that didn't make its way to KWT? Maybe the threat of Vatican Assassins (no Charlie Sheen) is keeping the blogs quiet? It's all very hush-hush, but there's something major brewing in Miami, and I think it's gonna hit sooner rather than later.
