Honestly, I have no idea what the future holds for "Rap Club", or even if it holds anything at all. Buuuut, if people are interested and involved, I think this could be pretty cool. Basically, I'll throw some stuff out (it won't always be current shit) for you to check out. It's gonna be pretty low-key, pretty informal. I'm not going to go into great detail about any sort of criteria for what I'll be presenting. You'll understand better once I start offering up stuff to be checked out. It'd be cool if this could be a sort of dialogue, with people contributing interesting stuff or insight in the comments. Or you can email me or tweet me stuff you want included in the next edition of "Rap Club".
If you should be studying (like I should be) this might make for a pretty great time waster. *awkwardly work in some sort of tie-in about Kids Wasting Time* (continued after the jump...)
If you chose to keep reading past the jump, thanks for following me down the rabbit hole. I think you made the right choice. Basically, if you're a rap nerd, and you love consuming knowledge about the genre, this is the place for you. I hope you like it. Welcome to the "Rap Club".
Things on the agenda today:
The Breakfast Club : This is a must check-out. I've seen these interviews before, but tonight I've watched about six back to back and I am absolutely hooked. Angela Yee, Envy and Charlamagne are hilarious together. They're probing, funny and crude. Like discussing sucking farts out of girls' asses crude.
You MUST watch because:
1.) They interview JBiebz and you will not be able to take your eyes off his mustache
2.) Envy, Charlamagne and Machine Gun Kelly going back and forth about their favorite porn sites (they'll be the exact same as yours).
3.) The awkwardness when it becomes obvious Vado and Yee have smashed on numerous occasions.
4.) Mac Miller is so high.
5.) Char telling B.o.B to stay away from the urban market.
Childish Gambino talking about Kanye's impact on the game, who he sees as his peers, etc : If you're a Gambino fan or not, it's worth checking out. He says some very true things about Yeezy.
Noz Interviews Clams Casino : This is 120 minutes of Noz talking to Clams Casino about music, out in Spain. I realize that sounds insane, and it is. For a bunch of reasons. It's weird actually seeing Noz. It's kinda disappointing, because he could never look the way you imagine him to look. He's more a force in the blogosphere than a real person, to me. Then there's Clams, who is really awkward at points but is really interesting to listen to, and is definitely one of my favorite producers right now. I haven't watched all of this video, so I'm not expecting you to. But once I clicked play, I didn't stop for over an hour.
Must Download: Main Attrakionz - "808s and Dark Grapes II"
Must Download: Z-Ro - "5200"
And just like that, our first meeting is over. Brief, but needed. I feel refreshed. I can't stress enough how much I'd love if people contributed something in the comments, emailed me, or tweeted at me. Let me know what was important to you, and needed to be checked out. Or if you hate the idea of "Rap Club" and strongly desire for me to headbutt a knife, let me know that too.
