Verse of the Day: Jay-Z - "Glory"

Chill with all the Illuminati, Devil Child, shut-down-a-hospital, wrote-a-weird-poem talk.

After the jump, the verse in question, and some words from our sponsors.

False alarms and false starts,
all made better by the sound of your heart,
all the pain of the last time,
I prayed so hard it was the last time,
Your mama said you danced for her,
Did you wiggle your hands for her?
Glory, glory, glory,
Sorry.
Everything that I prayed for,
God's gift, I wish I woulda prayed more,
God makes no mistakes, I made a few,
Rough sleddin' here and there but I made it through,
I wreak havoc on the world,
Get ready for part two,
A younger smarter faster me,
So a pinch of Hov, a whole glass of Be

I listened to this song six or seven times today, and for good reason. You know how when Pusha or Ross makes slinging work sound so cool you start to consider pocketing that tuition money and trying your hand at flipping a key? Hov's obvious joy over the arrival of Blue Ivy makes me want to have a kid. He expresses his sadness over children that never made it out of the womb, owns up to his failures, and realizes ultimately, that his daughter will be his salvation. He tells us how to cook-up a Blue Ivy in this verse and the next, with his now famous "child with the child from Destiny's child, that's a hell of a recipe," proving that his dopeboy mentality persists. If you're any type of fan of Jay-Z, you're smiling along, happy that after all he's been through, Jay's found blissful happiness. "Did YOU wiggle your hands for her," gets me every time.
