DC Comics to Publish Watchmen Prequel

By now, you may or may not have heard that Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons masterpiece Watchmen will be receiving the prequel treatment. It's something that's been rumored for ages, but now is truly coming to fruition. It'll be called Before Watchmen, and will consist of seven miniseries, each one focusing on a major character, and consisting of four or six issues. You can read more about the actual logistics of it over at EW, which is where I first heard about it. But it begs the question, what level of outrage do you feel?

At first, I was feeling medium outrage levels, but after reading through it, and really pondering it, I'm just excited to get another look at the fascinating world of Watchmen. Sure, Alan Moore has nothing to do with it, which might be scary to some. But they've assembled an all-star cast of writers and illustrators, people who have been inspired by the seminal comic, probably who owe a lot of their career to it, and now want to pay homage. I'm sure there will be a lot of fan boy freak-outs, but I think it's unwarranted. It's not Watchmen folks, it's a separate entity. No matter what happens, nothing can ever tarnish the original.
