Flipped: Aaron Neville - "Hercules"

Twaan's bored, but contrary to popular belief, that's a good thing. You see, when I get bored, I get productive, which is exactly what I'm doing right here, right now. To cure my lethargic ways, I will delve into the first installment of a series I've been thinking about implementing into the rotation for a while now. Although I love hip hop, music in general is more of a passion of mine than the respective genres and sub-genres; therefore, I have a heavy affinity for music composition, and when it comes to hip hop, that translates to beats. The production of hip hop is what made me fall in love with it, and what keeps me coming back for more. I'm rambling on, I know. Anyway, with KWT's new post series, Flipped, as you've probably already guessed, we will be highlighting dope samples in hip hop production. Up top we will give the name, artwork, and stream of an original, often older song, while after the jump we will feature the hip hop track that sampled the above original. That way, we can have some fun with our viewers, allowing for a guessing game that will undoubtedly leave our viewers clicking for more! *Billy Mays voice....RIP*

Today we kick Flipped off with a track from the classic Louisiana soul singer Aaron Neville in his funky, rolling "Hercules." With a bassline prime for sampling, hip hop producers couldn't let this one go untouched. Any idea on who flipped Sir Neville's soul groove? I'm not taking it easy on you, this one's tough. But head below the click once you're ready...

And the answer is.....drum roll please.....

ACTION BRONSON - "STEVE WYNN" (PROD. PARTY SUPPLIES) | Download

Yeah, unless you're a huge fan of Bam Bam's that was a pretty tough one to start off with. But this dude Party Supplies is quickly becoming one of my favorite young producers. His and Bronson's Blue Chips mixtape, home to the Neville sampling "Steve Wynn," is chalked full of dope samples and bars from the collaborative team. Grab it right HERE at KWT, and stream the track at hand above.

  2. Thanks bro...I'm pretty excited for it too. I've been wanting to do this segment for a long time, just couldn't think of a name or a template on how to go about it. I think this should work nicely. Hopefully you return early and often to check into more "Flipped" installments as well as our other content.
