Nas is one of, if not the best, lyricist in hip-hop's history. That being said, he is not the best at referencing basketball players and terms, but he gets the Ballin' Line of the Week for a reference from one of his most underplayed albums
Hit the jump to see what the line is, what song it is from, and what it means...
"Trying to get paper
Gotta have land, gotta have acres
So I can sit back like Jack Nicholson
Watch niggas play the game like the Lakers"From the song "Patience", from Nas and Damian Marley's amazing, underplayed collaborative album Distant Relatives, Nas drops some basketball knowledge. Nas says that he's trying to get money and land, so he can relax and watch his fellow people try to get money and land as well. Nas wants to watch people try to succeed like Jack Nicholson, who famously has courtside seats at Staples Center, watches the Los Angeles Lakers play the game of basketball.
