Pusha T - "Pain" (feat. Future)

G.O.O.D. Music's always working, sure to keep a relevant release or two on peoples' radars in order to stay on top of the hip hop genre. We should have known it wouldn't be long after Cruel Summer that Yeezy and company would quickly be back to unleashing new music. Pusha's the first to step to the plate, releasing his Future-assisted first single from his forthcoming untitled solo LP.

Although the production is on point and Ziploc-P's bars are dope as always, Future's hook makes this joint forgettable for me. Call me picky, but, Kanye's roster needs to keep dude outta the G.O.O.D. studio sessions from now on.

The Top 5 Usain Bolt References in Hip-Hop

There's no better athlete for a rapper to reference than Usain Bolt. The dominance, the swagger, and the likability of the Jamaican Olympian makes for a perfect, relevant hip hop reference point. Rappers know this as well as anyone, and, in the recent history of hip hop music, there has been a major outburst of emcees name dropping The King of Speed. Whether it be through metaphors, analogies, or a basic punchline, a Usain Bolt reference in rap is sure to garner "oohs" and "ahhs" from listeners.

In light of Bolt's recent gold medal sweep of his two London 2012 events (the 4x100m relay on Saturday could make him three for three), KWT has compiled five of the best Usain mentions hip hop has to offer. Artist: Wale

Song: "Cypher" (feat. Young Chris, Beanie Sigel & Freeway)

Line: "Ready for war/We bring it to 'em like Usain Bolt...GONE!"

KWT Says: Who else would you expect to nab hip hop's first Usain Bolt reference then the genre's go-to sports name dropper? Just days after the Jamaican sprinter made huge waves at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the DC rapper dropped hip hop's first Usain Bolt simile in his 9th Wonder produced posse cut "Cypher."

Medal Awarded:.Gold. Right away, Wale scores big for being the first rapper to reference the Jamaican speedster. That alone merits the emcee at least a silver. Throw in the fact that the line's not the typical, overused "I run this sh*t, call me Usain Bolt," and the rhyme's a winner. It may not be the best Bolt reference ever spit, but it's definitely top tier.

   

Artist: Lupe Fiasco

Song: "Thank You"

Project: Enemy of the State: A Love Story (Mixtape)

Line: "I run the game, Bilderberg Group/In the lead with The Flash/Usain Bolt ain't even leavin' this fast."

KWT Says: Lupe has always been a lyrical mastermind, so he's no stranger to clever, intelligent rhymes like this one. In "Thank You," a track that can be found on the Chicago veteran's onslaught of hip hop instrumentals known as Enemy of the State, Fiasco spits a couplet that just might be the best of the entire list. While most rappers would compare themselves to Bolt, Wasalu takes it a step further, analogizing himself with The Flash, who, of course, is the only being in existence who's faster than Usain Bolt.

Medal Awarded: Gold, again. I've got a feeling there'll be more golds than anything on this list. It takes swagger, charisma, and smarts to pull off a great Usain Bolt rhyme, but in Lu's freestyle over Jay's BIII beat, he simply outdoes the competition. Including Bolt himself. We'd previously only heard rappers comparing themselves to the gold medalist, but claiming to be better, faster, and stronger than him puts Lupe over the top.

Song: "Speakers Going Hammer" (Freestyle)

Project: Fear of God (Mixtape)

Line: "She oblivious her girl wanna come with 'em/Can't blame her, other n*ggas can't run with 'em/Usain Bolt through these b*tches then I'm done with 'em."

KWT Says: In typical King Push fashion, the G.O.O.D. Music spitter drops a relevant name to get his point across in his solo debut mixtape. The name? Usain Bolt, of course, whom's athlete status Pushaton uses to further describe just how he treats the women who throw themselves at him on the daily.

Medal Awarded: Silver. Though a very respectable, dope line, I think it's an obvious level below Lupe's analogy. Also, by the time Fear of God dropped, Usain Bolt references were as common as ever, so it doesn't gain the "Wale boost of originality." Regardless, it remains one of hip hop's toughest, most creative Usain Bolt mentions in recent history.

Artist: Pusha T

Song: "City of Dreams" (feat. Travis Barker)

Project: Give The Drummer Some (Album)

Line: "I'm livin' life at a faster pace/Usain Bolt, runnin' in a faster race/Record deal is the king-pin's masquerade/Deep dimples in the D-Cup to masturbate."

KWT Says: Much like Bolt himself, Pusha comes through with another shot at a medal thanks to a second reference to the Olympic legend. This time, when he and brother Malice are featured on Travis Barker's Give The Drummer Some joint, Push drops a Bolt analogy in the midst of an already crazy few bars packed full of multi-rhymes and imagery. He lets everyone know that his coked-out life is as high-speed as one can become.

Medal Awarded: Gold. Pusha T outdoes the above line, pairing his Usain reference with lines that could leave any hip hop fan making the stank face. Be right back, I'ma go toss a brick through my neighbor's windshield.

Artist: Rick Ross

Song: "White Sand, Pt. II"

Project: The Albert Anastasia EP (EP)

Line: "Five mil from LA Reid, let's see how long that last me/I sign for mills and run through it just like an athlete/I'm in the same boat, as Usain Bolt."


KWT Says: Rick Ross is always on his A game when it comes to sports lines, and the MMG Bawse takes no days off when it comes to track and field. His Bolt reference on the Albert Anastasia EP cut "White Sand, Pt. 2" is much like Pusha T's "Speakers Going Hammer" rhyme, using Usain's favorite activity to describe how he handles his money.

Medal Awarded: Bronze. Rawse stans will plead he deserves at least a silver if Push's comparable rhyme merited one, but this line, while still respectable, is an obvious bottom tier bar to me. His delivery is lacking where Push's wasn't making this our sole bronze recipient of the list. I've got a feeling this might be ranked higher if the dude TS was writing, so if you're upset, hit him up on Twitter and y'all can chop it up about everything "UGHN!" til the night's end.

Hip Hop's 5 Best Signature Ad-Libs

As hip hop continues to grow so do the new ways for artists to deliver and separate themselves from the others. It seems that today's hip hop bunch have found love in the use of ad-libs. But it's not necessarily the new, rising stars that are the only one's making waves in the ad-lib game, with veterans having classic ad-libs such as; Birdman's "bird call" and Jay-Z's "Hov!". 

Seeing as ad-libs are an essential part of hip hop, I thought it would be fitting to put together my favorite ad-libs from today's artists. The criteria being hilarity and/or dopeness (judged by me) and the recognition the artists have received for the ad-lib. 

Artist: Wiz Khalifa
Ad-Lib: "Okayyyy"

Now a lot of people may not recognize my number 5 pick as an ad-lib, but listen to the ad-lib compilation we put together for you and you'll understand. And a little message to Mr. Khalifa, if you want us to really buy into the fact that you are sorry for Rolling Papers and bringing back the old Taylor Gang sound, then get back to using this classic ad-lib. "Okayyyyyy"?

Ad-Lib: "Boiii"

One of the most annoying ad-libbers in the game today has to make our list. Love it or hate it, people know when you use it exactly who you are talking about. It's the (in)famous "boiii". Sure we could have gone with others used by the youngest member of the G.O.O.D. Music family, but "boiii" is definitely his signature ad-lib.

You all know the ad-lib I'm talking about... Can someone please just get Yeezy a hearing aid already?

Call it what you want; a grunt, a clearing of the throat, or an assertion of dominance, but Rozay's been putting out his boss-life music with these classic ad-libs since the start.

While some crown Pusha as the king of the coke flow, I would like to add another crown to his braided hair line... King of the best ad-lib in hip hop. The ad-lib suggesting a deep sense of distaste is an attitude that fits perfectly into the G.O.O.D. Music group. With it kind of being a sneer, the ad-lib implies that Pusha's last line or the line he is about to say is one that it's sure to shit on most. "I think it's good that Ye got a blow dealer."

Kanye West x Pusha T - "New God Flow"

Kanye and his G.O.O.D. roster continue their onslaught of hip hop music by suddenly releasing the highly anticipated "New God Flow," which features both Ye and Pushaton. Just as "Mercy" is starting to get hot on the airwaves, a new banger is let loose, ensuring that Yeezy and co. will dominate playlists up until the compilation's release. Hopefully radio will drool over this new single like they have for the first, as Pusha really deserves some exposure for what he's been on lately. Dude might have the best bars on his label, and yes, I'm looking at you Kanye.

G.O.O.D. Music BET Awards '12 Performance

Tonight marked the annual BET Awards, and although many hip hop artists were called upon to perform at the ceremony, this is the only one that really caught our eye. Watch on as Kanye, Pusha, Big Sean, and 2 Chainz perform "Mercy," before Ye takes it solo dolo with "Cold" and an unheard, acapella verse that he will debut on his and Pusha's forthcoming single, "New God Flow."

Looks like the artist formerly known as The-Dream decided against the formal name and is once again the artist currently known as The-Dream. After Dream, I mean Terius, I mean Dream helped Pusha with the diss heard 'round the world, the two flip roles for this single from the R&B crooner's forthcoming album Love IV. Listen below as Dream smooths things out while Push spits that rawness about their respective dames. Props to the fellow IL fam over at illRoots for the heads up.

Music's next posse cut, which will be a remix to the young Chicago rapper's standout track "I Don't Like."Expect it to drop within the next couple of hours, and as long as I don't pass out, KWT will be all over it.

Today is Good Friday (no seriously, it's Good Friday), which marks the perfect day for Kanye and his G.O.O.D. Music cohorts to unleash the first look into the label's hugely anticipated compilation album. We've been expecting it for awhile now, but just before dropping it, Ye caught us off guard by dropping the rumored "Lamborghini, Murci" title for a much simpler one and by adding a 2 Chainz featured slot. I was hoping the album would be exclusively G.O.O.D. representers, but it's all good. Below you can listen and purchase what's sure to be an insane track. Mercy, mercy me.

G.O.O.D. Music's "Mercy" Set to Drop Friday

After a couple of rumored dates and names, the G.O.O.D. Music Compilation Album's first single has officially been given a title and release date. "Mercy" will feature G.O.O.D. artists Kanye West, Big Sean and Pusha T as well as a featured spot from 2 Chainz and will drop Friday, April 6th.

Is the G.O.O.D. Music Compilation Single Dropping Tomorrow?

We've known for a while now that the first single from the forthcoming G.O.O.D. Music Compilation Album was to be "Lamborghini Murci," but we were never given an official release date. Today, however, rumors were swirling on Twitter that the single, set to feature Kanye, Pusha T, and Big Sean, would be dropping tomorrow.

You should all take this with a grain of salt, as it could all be speculation, but same pretty big names in hip hop were chiming into the discussion. Hit the jump for screenshots of said tweets, and tune back in tomorrow to possibly hear the surely incredible track.
